As a nook owner, I’m always looking for new books to add to my collection so tell me this…
What has been your favorite read on your nook? Why?
My favorite would have to be John Grisham’s, “The Confession”. This book gripped me from beginning to end and I couldn’t put it down.
I first came across “Sh*t My Dad Says” on Twitter over a year ago and couldn’t stop laughing at this tweets. Sometimes they made me shake my head while chuckling and other times I laughed until I cried.
The past week has been rough so I decided to buy the nookbook, “Sh*t My Dad Says”, hoping to lighten the mood and get some laughs. Let me tell you…I was reading this while at work and there were times that I couldn’t stop laughing. (Thank goodness no one else was in the office at the time!) I continued reading it in bed when I got home and after 10 minutes of laughing and trying to read “Dad’s” comments back to my husband, he took my nook from me and told me “That’s enough of this for tonight!”
Here’s an example of some of the sh*t his dad says:
On Toilet Training
“You are four years old. You have to sh*t in the toilet. This is not one of those negotiations where we’ll go back and forth and find a middle ground. This ends with you sh*tting on the toilet.” (p. 13, “Sh*t My Dad Says”)
“I had no problem with you crying. My only concern was with the snot that was coming out of your nose. Where does that go? On your hands, your shirt? That’s no good. Oh, Jesus, don’t start crying.” (p. 14, “Sh*t My Dad Says”)
I just finished this book an hour ago and I recommend it if you want a good laugh. However, I will warn you that this book does contain a number of expletives. If you don’t like reading/hearing cussing, this book may not be for you.
“Sh*t My Dad Says” is still priced at $9.99 which sounds a little high for 112 pages but it really is a funny book. If you’re not sure if you want to spend the $9.99, download a sample to see if you like it.
This is one book I know I’ll be going back to when I need a good laugh in the future.
I just found out a few weeks ago that you’re able to earn cash back on your Barnes & Noble purchases (along with a number of other stores) just by signing up for an Ebates account!
It’s easy to join an easy to start earning money. Simply go to Ebates, sign up for an account and start making purchases. When you’re on the Ebates site, just do a search for the store you’re looking for and link to the store from Ebates to start earning money!!
If you purchase nook books online from Barnes & Noble, go to your “library” on your nook and search for new content. Your book will then be added to your library. It’s that easy and if you’re earning cash back on your purchases that just means more books for your nook!! It’s a win-win.
I was really excited to receive a special delivery in the mail today!!
Gussy just started carrying e-reader & iPad sleeves and I couldn’t pass up some new attire for my nook…especially when it comes from none other than Gussy herself!!
This sleeve is great! It is generously padded for an extra bit of security for my nook and zips shut. And as with all of Gussy’s high-quality products, the front is graced with Gussy’s signature, eye-catching ruffle!
If you haven’t heard of Gussy before you must take a peek at her blog and her shop! Gussy (a.k.a. Maggie) is a self-taught seamstress. I came across her in the Fall of 2009 when she was looking for people to review her ruffled zip pouches. Gussy has gone from sewing on the side to quitting her full-time job outside of the home and making Gussy her full-time job at home. Gussy has been featured in magazines such as “Pregnancy & Newborn” and “OK! Magazine” as well as “The LA Times Daily Dish”.
So, head on over and meet Gussy. And, if you sign up to receive the Gussy newsletter (from her shop site) you will receive a discount code for 15% off your purchase.
Stay tuned for a post about the Lend Me feature on your nook!
Accidents can happen. I’ve learned this the hard way one too many times. I use my nook every day and as much as I hate to think about it, one of these days something is bound to happen. This is where Squaretrade comes in.
If you have purchased your nook within the past 90 days, you can get your nook covered under Squaretrade for as little as $29.99. Squaretrade offers 2- & 3-year warranties that will cover mechanical & electrical failure, damage from drops & spills, and other damage from handling. Last night I was able to purchase a 3-year warranty for my nook for only $34.99 after receiving a 30% discount by using the discount code SANTA. If this discount code does not work, you can access Squaretrade on Facebook where I have noticed discount codes being posted. It’s a small price to pay for peace of mind and coverage in case something happens.
Edited to add: make sure you either fax or email a copy of the receipt for your nook to Squaretrade. They will keep it on file so it’s accessible if/when you need to use the warranty.
